Multiple District 403
MD 403 History
District 403 was founded in 1957.
Until 1981, it included clubs from the French-speaking countries of West Africa, Central Africa, and the Indian Ocean islands, as well as all English-speaking countries in West Africa, including Nigeria and Ghana.
In 1982, District 403 became Multiple District 403 with the creation of Districts 403 A (West Africa) and 403 B (Central Africa and the Indian Ocean).
That same year we must note the departure of Nigeria to create District 404, the current Multiple District 404.
In 2011 District 403A was restructured into D 403 A1 (9 countries) and D 403 A2 (6 countries). In 2014, it will be the turn of District 403B to be restructured into two Districts, D403 B1 (8 countries-Continent) and D 403 B2 (6 countries-Islands of the Indian Ocean).
In 2018, a major restructuring will change significantly.
We are proud of our rich past and we know that this is only the beginning. Every day, we perpetuate our legacy with the goal of having an even greater impact in the future.

We respond to the needs of children and families facing childhood cancer.
We are reducing the prevalence of diabetes and improving the quality of life of people with diabetes.
Diabetes is a global epidemic.
An estimated 537 million adults worldwide are living with diabetes, and this prevalence is rapidly increasing.
By 2045, this figure is expected to triple to 783 million. Diabetes is a global epidemic affecting every region of the globe.
When disaster strikes, Lions are always among the first to offer assistance.
With a Disaster Relief Grant, they can do even more to help communities devastated by hurricanes, floods, fires, and other disasters.
The International Foundation offers different types of grants to support different phases of disaster relief operations.
The earth nourishes human life. Our environment is more than just a backdrop: it's our home. And we are committed to taking care of it.
We work to protect the environment to create healthier living spaces and a sustainable world.
We identify the world's greatest needs and deliver humanitarian assistance where it's most needed.
Lions' humanitarian work is remarkable and celebrated for over 100 years. Lions identify the world's most pressing needs, and LCIF financially supports their transformative humanitarian work around the world.
We improve food security and access to nutritious food to combat malnutrition.
Understanding the impact of hunger can be difficult for those who have never experienced it. Nearly a billion people worldwide suffer from food insecurity.
Since Helen Keller's call to Lions in 1925, we've been working to help the blind and visually impaired. Nearly a century later, this mission is more central than ever.
We prevent avoidable blindness and improve the quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired.
Young people are a dynamic force for good. After more than a century of service, we remain more committed than ever to maintaining our impact for the next 100 years. That's why we invest in young people as beneficiaries, partners, and to empower them to be servant leaders.
We help young people make positive choices, lead healthy and productive lives, and become the next generation passionate about service.
